I guess if you don't observe Thanksgiving, you don't have the insanity of shopping sales known as Black Friday. That represents the day merchants expect to sell enough to put them in the black for the year. Rather than participate in the madness of Black Friday, John and I stopped off at the Virginia Museum and strolled on the grounds. It was such a beautiful day, and we ran into friends we hadn't seen in a long time. It was fun to catch up with them on a lovely November afternoon. We have a lot to be thankful for on the day after Thanksgiving.
Beautiful reflections...both on the museum and in your words! Going to a museum on Black Friday was a perfect idea....and much better than fighting the crowds.
Great reflections and such a better way to spend the day after Thanksgiving. I think the real reason they call it black Friday is not because it puts the merchants in the black, but because people get caught up in the darkness of materialism! Great shot!
@olivetreeann I totally agree with your interpretation. Reading about the myriad confrontations across the country between frantic bargain-hunters has really been depressing.
