Our school garden is home to many forms of plant and animal life. Last year blue birds were tenants in the traditional wooden birdhouse that is hooked up to a camera. This spring sparrows took over and have already raised two broods. Today our science teacher/master gardener discovered that the bluebirds had not actually left the neighborhood. They moved into a ceramic birdhouse on the other side of the garden. I snuck up when the parents were out grocery shopping and got this shot. I know it's not great, but I love the view of baby's open beak as he waits expectantly for what ever Mama brings home.
PS. I changed the title of this to "Open Wide 2" because it turns out I had given the same title to my picture of the fancy garbage can, and they were showing up together in the same thread!
This is such a great idea to thave birhouses for the kids to see and enjoy.. I've a feeling although our nest was so busy before we left that there are no birds there now or maybe some "bad" guy stole the eggs and the youngsters..we so enjoyed watching them last year.
What an adorable shot! Your school sounds like a fun place to learn and also enjoy nature. The children are very fortunate to have such caring and creative teachers.
