Sunday Matinee by allie912

Sunday Matinee

One of our local theatre companies invited teachers to attend a performance of their current program either this week end or next. Never one to miss such an opportunity, I called right away and got a great seat.
Always, Patsy Cline is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death.

The musical play, complete with down home country humor, true emotion and even some audience participation, includes many of Patsy' unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight, 27 songs in all.
This link will take you to Patsy singing her signature song, "Crazy"

Thanks for posting the link, Allison. I love Patsy Kline's songs, especially "Crazy." Remember the movie starring Jessica Lang as Kline and Ed Harrison as her husband -- especially the scene where they're dancing in the parking lot? Wow.

I would have loved to see this - how great that you got to go! The best thing is the price on the ticket - $0.00!

@catwoman2 There is something about slow dancing in a movie that is so sensual. And of course Ed Harris ...

@phil_howcroft Yes ut was front row center in one of those intimate cabaret type theatres. I was afraid I might get called upon for some audience participation, but fortunately they needed a gentleman to dance with Patsy's friend and I didn't fill that bill of particulars!

Oh, I love this! How beautifully displayed! Patsy most certainly was an icon in country music. I keep forgetting she was only 30 when she died, yet she accomplished so much. I attended a tribute to her at a local dinner theatre several yrs ago and it was outstanding.
