Baby pine cones by allie912

Baby pine cones

I don't know the species but they were very round and bristly, not like typical pine cones at all.
Very pretty

They look like artichokes, I saw growing in Peru.

These may be from the Sweet Gum tree (if they are loose). Hard to tell by the photo if they are loose or growing on a vine. We have 2 sweet gums in our yard and they start producing bright green pods this time of year that eventually turn brown, fall and make a huge mess come autumn/early winter.

@cimes1 They are definitely from a tree with needles, not leaves like a sweet gum tree. I'll ask our grounds manager if I see her. She knows everything!

@allie912 Thanks! It is really a pretty photo.

Love all the patterns they create! Nice shot. The "needles" sort of look like a cedar tree- but I don't remember if I've ever seen the cones, so that's a wild guess.
