Pesto pasta by allie912

Pesto pasta

Sarah is a great cook, with a repertoire of recipes using local ingredients. Here she is making a batch of pesto using basil from the farmers market. She used almonds instead of pine nuts to keep the cost down, and added cilantro along with extra virgin olive oil. It made a pasta dinner that was tasty and light enough for summer.
I like the collage- and the fresh cooking. Even though I just had my own fresh veggie and pasta dinner, this has made me hungry!

@bruni Summer has arrived in Virginia but it is even further along in Florida where we were visiting this week. Their corn is already at the market but Virginia corn is not quite ready to be picked.

Looks and sounds delicious! I often use walnuts instead of pine nuts for the same reason. I'll have to try almonds next time.
