The morning was bright and sunny, and if you hadn't read all the dire predictions of the weather service, you would not be blamed for thinking we were in for a typical frosty winter day.
By noon the clouds were gathering (see above) and the sun was having a hard time keeping the day bright.
Then, right on schedule, when all the school folks were safely home, the snow began to fall. Since the ground was frozen, the flakes began sticking immediately. Looks like the schools will be closed tomorrow.
Meanwhile many poor workers were trying to get home in the worst of it. There was a 4 mile back-up through downtown caused by a truck transporting an elevator, believe it or not. The driver hit a bridge abutment and the truck flipped. I sure hope we don't end up with a situation like the one they had in Atlanta during the last storm. People just abandoned their cars and snarled city traffic for days.
Great shot - definitely has an expectant air to it. We were supposed to have rain this afternoon (for the first time in months) but so far it is passing us by...
Great shot!! The sun looks like a heart! We're expecting 15-24 and they keep upping the totals!! I saw a pic of North Carolina and it looked like a war zone...cars all over the road some abandoned and one (involved in a four car accident) on fire!!
I was one in Atlanta that kept working my way home until about 3 am. Then stopped at a Quik trip and slept in my car. The next day I walked the four miles left to get Home. Reading your story made me nervous! Lol
