Remember the laborious task of creating an accurate bibliography when you were in school? Well, I'm happy to say it's all changed, now that web-based services are available, often for free. Here my colleague is taking a class of Third Graders through a check list to complete a bibliography to accompany their research reports. Basically the user inputs the ISBN (The International Standard Book Number, a unique numeric commercial book identifier based upon the 9-digit Standard Book Numbering (SBN) code) from the back cover of the book. The website uses that number to retrieve all the publishing information needed, with correct punctuation. It will then create an alphabetical list ready to be saved or printed. These kids are doing a great job, but they have no idea how lucky they are!
