A volunteer from The Chesapeake Bay Foundation came to school to share with the students the role we all can play in keeping this natural resource healthy. She is a former teacher and did a great job capturing the attention of our Second Graders. What made it even more rewarding is that our students already had a terrific background in the geography and plant and animal life of the Bay through the project-based learning initiated by our own natural treasure, Mrs. Clore. Real learning takes place when the learner can make connections for herself. As you can see by all these raised hands, our students have made those connections.
