Our library summer project of reorganizing the fiction collection has expanded to include discarding a variety of artifacts that are no longer noteworthy. This 3 foot tall trophy has been kept in the library since 2003 when it was triumphantly brought home from a regional tournament by the Lower School Chess Club. The extravagant prize was awarded to our team for winning, believe it or not, 7th place. I can't imagine the size of the trophy for the first place winner.
Anyway all the players of that tournament have long since graduated and probably don't even remember playing.
Sort of sad, isn't it? I had a friend with a lot of trophies... He photographed them all and then got rid of them. What DO you do with a supply of trophies, anyway?
Well what on earth do you do with such once proud trophies? I think it's hideous but very proudly won so can you discard it? The bottom of a cupboard perhaps!!
