The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. This grassroots campaign is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide. Although it is widely promoted during Computer Science Education Week which will be December 5-11 in 2016, it can be held anytime. Because our division is on a 6-day cycle, we started a little earlier. Here you see a First Grade class with their classroom teacher and the computer specialist Karen (a former 365project member!) exploring computer programming for themselves.
@hwy61 Just sorry you are not more visible in this picture, but I thought showing you conferring closely with your student was more accurate than a pose for the camera.
