I looked up, trying to locate the cardinal I heard chirping nearby, and that’s when I saw this hawk surveying his domain. I never did see the cardinal who must have been — wisely — laying low.

Glad the Cardinal had some smarts. I've witnessed these fellows pick off a few birds at my feeder )o; But they are impressive nonetheless. Good shot.
