The Heart of the Pow Wow by allie912

The Heart of the Pow Wow

The beat of the drum is a major force in Native American ceremonies. It signifies the heart beat of Mother Earth. The carved form in the foreground is filled with seeds or pebbles that make a gentle sound when turned over and over by the musician. Together these instruments provide the rhythm for the dances performed by our First graders at their Pow-Wow.
Cool

You know, the other week I attended a seminar, and the one session I atteneded was about Alternative Treaments. The leader in that session put on a demonstration of African Drumming which is used to stimulate movement and a sense of energy. I could not believe the impact the drums had on your being. So I can imagine that the drum woul dbe a major piece of these ceremonies.
