I saw u today. And I had to snap a photo to prove it.
The title is inspired by a funny 80's song that is a joke between my husband and I. I don't remember it from the 80's...it was one he knew. Sometimes he'll say, "I love you so much...I followed you today."
Give it a listen if you want a laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dZW1C3neao. Boy were the styles and times tacky back then. I can't believe that some of it is actually fashionable again...no thanks!
But man, wasn't some of the music great (maybe not so much this song). What were your favorite 80's songs? Mine were: Abba's Super Trooper...I still remember listening to that LP and working on my rubik's cube as a kid. Gloria Gaynor's "I'm So Excited" was one I used to sing loudly as I was swinging on my swing set in my backyard. As I got older, I got into U2's entire Joshua Tree album and Beastie Boy's License to Ill. I also loved Dexy's Midnight Runners, "Come on, Eileen." I named my first car Eileen and would say "Come on" to her if she was going too slow for me.
Nice shot, looks great in b&w. The 80's were the last decade of music that I like, although I strongly prefer the 70's. My favorite bands from the 80's are Bon Jovi and Journey. My favorite songs from that decade are Don't Stop Believin' and Livin' on a Prayer.
Great shot and the song was a top ten hit in 1986 by Oran 'Juice Jones' - very cheesy rap song! I was 15 when it came out and a big Five Star fan at the time! Oops, did i say that out loud?!!
Nice shot, i gather you've turned it upside down? :)
omg - do NOT get me started about 80s music.... i think about 75% of my iTunes playlist is an hommage to the 80s... let's see Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, Prince, Bon Jovi... (slinking away in shame now)
I said upside down, You’re turning me... (Dianna Ross) It was the first single taken from her 1980 album 'diana' and hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 6, 1980. It held down the #1 title for 4 weeks. I loved to dance to this music... It's not my all time favorite, but it fits so well to this fabulous shot :)
This reminds me of a bit from Sesame Street in the early 80s where an R&B-ish guy was singing this "U really got a hold on me" song, while being relentless pursued by a giant foam letter U !
Favourite 1980s song. Difficult, but you'd have to go a long way to beat "Too much too young" by The Specials, released in January 1980. http://www.thespecials.com/music/view/12
@soboy5 Both were/are great songs, Danny. Thanks for your comments!
@taffy Thanks so much, Taffy. I am enjoying looking for letters. I got this one when I had to take an unexpected trip to meet my hubby and bring him his laptop that he forgot at home. What a way to redeem a trip.:)
@alia_801 I had to come back to it and edit my post to put my answers. I didn't know at first either. Thanks, lady!
@jewelsandbinoculars Listen all yall it's Sabotage! So stinkin' fun they were! Such party music. I only learned of them in college in the 90's. Maybe some in late high school. Whatcha whatcha whacha want was my first favorite of them.
Hahah I was totally laughing at this cause I feel the same way about these songs as you :) I LOVE "Come on Eileen!! :) This video gave me big smiles :) Awesome U that you found as you were shooting upside down on your head :) Hehehe Have a super day my darling :)
I love how you spotted this and it looks great in b&w! I love the contrast and the shadowing in the U. As for 80's songs...my favorite was "Take On Me" by A-Ha. And along with Weapon of Choice, it's still one of my favorite videos! So dramatic and cheesy. :) But I admit, I was a teeny bopper in the 80's, but then I was only in elementary school! Loved New Kids on the Block! lol
@emrob Ha. I was a teeny bopper Elementary school girl then, too. Loved Take on me and went through a NKOTB faze, though short lived. Thanks so much, Mandy!!
Nice shot, Amanda. Perfect U.
Nice shot, i gather you've turned it upside down? :)
Okay, now that was a lame song to jump into my head.
Cool shot.
