Well, sadly there were no hairy elephant sightings over the weekend, but I finally did get to spend some time with some deer. There was a young buck and two fawns grazing along the road on our way into the cave and on the way out there was a doe. I've wanted to capture deer for quite awhile so I was pretty pleased that I finally could.
@bobfoto Better than a hairy elephant? Equivalent to? Dang it, maybe not. I'd been wanting to shoot deer for a long time, though, and finally caught some.
@amandal - I don't mind a bit of Venison. But I had it in a pie once in New Zealand after I spent the day skiing and I washed it down with a dark Ale which was made at the Pub and well tasty. All so very good. I looked a lot like this guy then: http://365project.org/theseven/365/2012-05-08
Excellent capture! We have lots of deer in our yard--they leave their fawns there. Only problem is we can't see them and the dog goes out... then the momma charges the dog... and yeah. Never a single picture, just a mean momma deer and a freaked out dog.
@misterkitty That is crazy. We see them occasionally in our neighborhood, too, and are not in the city, but it still surprises me with all of the busy roads around.
@darsphotos Thanks, lady. I love seeing sweetness in nature!
beautiful! I was walking in a nature park the other day, reviewing pics on my lcd screen while walking when I heard a sound. I stopped and looked up and maybe 8 feet away was a big doe. I was so into the moment that I never even thought to bring my camera up and snap a pic until she finally turned around and walked off into the woods, and then I was like "doh!" oh well :) Your capture is beautiful!
@jsw0109 Thanks, Jeff. I am rarely quick enough when I see them. Very few and far between times around here. We happened to be in a national park and these were probably used to seeing people. I got a doe, too, in my other album. Thanks, friend! Love that you said "doh!"
@wildernesswillie I find it hilarious that my photo caused discussions about eating deer pie and such. Sheesh, guys, it's an adorable baby fawn. I'm going to be posting ducklings soon. Let's not think about eating them, ok;-).
@wildernesswillie And just so you know, that seriously cracked me up. Mmmmm ducklings. I shared it at the dinner table and my whole family loved it. Thanks for the good laugh, William:).
@amandal What's life without some laughter and I get silly a lot of the time. I like photography for the emotions it can stir and the stories it can tell. One photo and the minds off on a trip. Just like this one... Supper...Or like when I took my kids to see the remake of Bambi. My son who was about three at the time was watching the start of the show, When they first showed Bambi and his mother. With everybody giving a big AAaauhhh. My three year old son says (good and loud) BANG! You could hear a small laughter in the theatre from people of like mindset.
@kittikat - and it maybe a down-under thing. In Australia they are an introduced pest and are farmed for food.
@bobfoto Well it's a massively good beer. I thought about it all day. But refrained from one last night. I don't want to get a beer gut.
P.S. Is it kosher to fav one's own selfies? Just wondering.
Faved!!
@darrenboyj Man, I loved them. There were two fawns. I only got the one in here. Appreciate the fav!
@darsphotos Thanks, lady. I love seeing sweetness in nature!
