Oh my goodness, I did it. The weirdest selfie I have ever done. And I did it outside...and my neighbors came home and walked their dog while I was out like this. Standing in front of my car with the high beams on. This would be the same neighbor that walked up on me when I was killing a snowman and taping off the cold dead corpse (all for a photo). It's a wonder that their house is not on the market yet. Most of them around us are. Hmmmm....
Funny story from about a year ago...my son so loved getting money from the tooth fairy for lost teeth that he decided to put his toenail clippings in an envelope under his pillow to see if the toenail fairy would come. I was skeptical and told him to let me know how that worked out. Guess what? She didn't show.
Well tonight I dressed up as the toenail fairy in my little girls' dress up clothes (as a friend pushed me to do yesterday). The skirt is a dress that I somehow wiggled into (with help and a bit of ripping). I still haven't figured out how to get the thing off.
Another time this year, I was nearly caught taking a photo of another neighbors window at night. I had my camera set up on the tripod aimed at the window and the man came out to dump his trash. I was so embarrassed and quickly turned the lens in another direction, whistled and pretended to clean it. So innocent seeming, right?! He went back inside and didn't seem to notice thankfully. And so you know, I wasn't shooting an open window...it was a closed one with a cool shadow in it, if that helps me seem slightly less creepy. Oh, they are moving now and a 365 friend is actually considering the place.
Anywho, here is my ETSOOI color selfie that I made a fool of myself doing tonight. Now off to figure out how to remove this dress that I somehow got on me that is meant for 4 year olds. It keeps getting tighter and I can barely breathe...
How hilarious! You are brave and strong to do this outside! I just cannot imagine what your neighbours thought! Maybe what your husband always dreamed of?
Fav Amanda! My family and all around me doubt my sanity, and i have still not ventured to being a toe nail fairy and I so love your story... fav for the guts, a dash of madness and for getting into that tutu! It makes me smile...
Well done @adamj good push! :-)
@tonydebont Your words made my day, Tony. Thank you so much for them and for the fav. So glad to make people laugh:).
@amrita21 Love, love your comments and thanks so much for the smile and fav. I think it didn't go through, though. Perhaps you hit the button too eagerly;-). You are sweet, lady. Love the mention of madness...you got that right!:)
You are priceless, this made me laugh so much. Definitely admire your guts and love the shot! Would love to be your neighbour, life would be very interesting!
@adamj I can't believe you ever did. Don't let it happen again:)! I guess I've got to get back into doing weird selfies. I was guessing that this craziness would lose me followers, but people like it:).
This is hilarious, Amanda. I love your writing. Shannon told me about you. I joined the photo club last year and have been consistently a non-active member since. Although I did go to the Railway scoot and shoot yesterday which is where I found out about you.
I know how it feels late at night when you don't have a photo for the day, although this one looks like it took a bit of pre-planning. Carry on. I can't wait to see what you do next.
You crack me up. Have an image of your street being eventually full of just 365ers and all out at night taking photos of each others houses or doing just crazy night shots :) Fav btw for the skill in getting into the dress ups. I can't stop laughing :)
This is hilarious - such a quirky selfie! Love your words about the neighbours - I'm glad I'm not the only one who scares their neighbours with their photography antics!! : ))
Lol - you really are the real deal! Fab selfie and a truly great expression.
And what a funny read - this 365 thing gets us into so many bizarre, dangerous and ridulous situations it's untrue - you, however, have a knack of nailing that side better than all of us!
Fav of course!
@bobfoto...Your name kills me. I still occasionally misspell it the 'right'way. Here was my Tina selfie...did I follow your color and etsooi suggestions well? The back story is worth the read.
Oh my, wow! You are too amazing, Amanda! :P Love what you are willing to do for a challenge and to learn (and to possibly drive the neighbors away and convert everyone to 365). Still laughing.
@zam I had to use force to remove the ill fitted costume, that's for sure. Thanks so much, Zam. Really appreciate the fav!
@snaggy Not too much danger this time around beside the embarrassment and the camera in the road. Really appreciate the laugh and the fav! Thank you, Kev!
OMG! Amanda... you are hilarious! the concept, the picture, the write up! i've done some nutty stuff, but pretty sure i canNOT compete (altho' my husband came home the night i was doing the vintage selfies to find the bedroom set up as a studio and informed me that this could be easily misinterpreted ;p)
@adamj I wish my shot were as rockin' as yours. You are on your way to TT, I believe:). Any more ideas for me? You gave me some good inspiration apparently. I'd been meaning to do the deer in headlights shot, but added the tutu and voila.
You are one cwazy chickie! How fun......I love your gumption and easy going personality! What a fun shot! Can't wait to see your Halloween costume. Fav!
@megmills You sooooooo should move to my neighborhood. We'd have a blast, despite the mice. I went to the lake for the sunrise this morning. It was so gorgeous!!
@bobfoto About time on so many counts. My first Jason fav? Seriously, that means a bunch. Thank you!!!! SO annoying when tags don't work. Oh well, you found it. Thanks for the pointers/suggestions, too. I probably wouldn't have done quite as much ETSOOI to this had you not said anything and perhaps that helps make it all the better and more ridiculous.
Ok, even if this was the worst picture ever, this would so deserve to be PP just for the getting caught taking this picture!! Hilarious!
However it's a GREAT picture! Like your style Amanda! :)
@cdonohoue I used to blog. 365 kinda took that over for me. That and having 3 kids. I blogged tons when I was pregnant with the first and it dwindled off with each kid. I wonder how long it's been? Years. I should do it again, but hate to waste my time in other ways. 365 is enough:). Thanks, Cathy!!
@maggiemae I think that he did kinda like the look...especially with the fishnets and boots. It punked the outfit up a bit. Thanks, Maggiemae. Thanks for sharing the laugh!
@bardejov Thanks so much, lady. Glad that you know me so well. Also glad that I came up with something and pulled it off. It felt good to do a goofy one again!
@shannonshots Thanks so much, Peter. Love your comments!
@sandypw LOVE that I gave you a giggle. Thank you!!!
@sailingmusic Thank you, Myrna. The deer in headlights shot was my original intent and then a 365 friend dared me to do a selfie in a purple tutu and Tina was born.
@rennes Thanks, Lisa. Shew, glad it's not just me either!!
@tskipper Thanks, lady. It was fun to pull this off. Selfies are great! I've really gotten into them this year!
@anazad511 Love your great comments, Ana. Thank you!!!
You are a hoot! Love your sense of humor. I think your neighbors should consider themselves lucky to live next to such a fun loving lady. Fabulous image!
@sbolden Thank you, Scott. I love doing fun selfies and this one was pretty exceptionally fun albeit embarrassing:). I can't believe how well received it was!
@fauxtography365 Thank you, my friend. Hope you don't mind my name choice:).
@archaeofrog LOVE your words, Katie. Either convert to my way or start packing. Love that. So funny. Glad that you got a good laugh. That was the goal. I can't believe the response to this craziness:).
@carolmw Thanks so much, Carol. It was very fun to pull off.
@northy Are your selfies up?! I wanna see em. Thanks for your great comments, lady. I so have fun with this. And love that all the crazy things seem to happen to me. Makes it all the more fun.
@dauber That is pretty genius, huh? How funny. Thanks so much for your great comments, RL!!
@masosy Thanks so much, my friend. This was more my style last year...weird and wacky. This year I've gone more sexy. This is more fun!
Oh Amanda, this is totally awesome! I LOVE everything about it, but your it's your stunned expression that has me scrolling back up just to grin all over again. Brilliant concept and hilarious story too -- you really know how to have fun! And my hat's off to your enterprising son... he reminds me of my own son many years ago, who used to leave notes for the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny asking them to "sign below." He was planning to sell their autographs! (Wish I could FAV this more than once!)
@wendyhgill LOVE your comments. How funny about your son and his signature required notes for the fairy and bunny. How enterprising! Thanks so so much for the grins, kind words and the many faves you wished to bestow and the one that you did. You are great!:)
Haaahahaha... this is fabulous, Amanda! I love your story of the neighbours... hmm, one wonders (!) lol. So creative... and I also love that you didn't even bother changing - you were so keen to get this edited and uploaded that you had to do that first! Such dedication. I love it!!! :)
@cocobella Thanks so much for your great comments and follow. I had fun with this one...and I sure hope that they like me a little at least:).
@gailmmeek How funny...it is fun that I sat and edited and uploaded as a fairy. My poor little girl, though...I stretched out the arms of her fairy wings. They sagged on her yesterday:(. Thanks, Gail!!
@deeganp Thanks so much for your kind words and fav, my friend. This was so fun to do:)!!
@rvwalker Oh I love that I gave you your laugh. Thanks so much for that, Ross. I appreciate that almost as much as the fav. Hope you get a good laugh today, too.:)
@bobfoto I asked my neighbor if they had seen me out in this get up the last weekend. We hadn't spoken since them and I was curious what the heck they were thinking (probably that I am a nutter). He asked if we were doing role playing?! I told him that it was for my photo project and he said he had figured as much. And then he told me it was a good look for me. Oh boy...can't wear the tutu outside anymore/
oh my GOSH. what a great sense of story. you SO deserved the pp for this. just the wherewithal, dedication to the idea no matter who is looking....i know my neighbors whisper about me too...luckily i try not to look at them while they do. that would be cool if meg moved next door...or a mystery 365-er! too fun for the whole neighborhood to watch you two at it with dares :-D
@moreyoulessme Thanks, Jerri. I live for telling a good story and what a great one I had for this. Thank you so much. I was telling a friend above that I asked the neighbor if they had seen me and they had. So embarrassing, yet makes it all the better. He thought my hubby and I were role playing!!! Outside?! I corrected him and told him it was for my photo project. Thank you!!!
Role playing?? ROFL!!!!
And so funny that it was the same neighbor that caught you red handed during The Great Snowman Caper. I loved the reminder of that shot and the Peeping Tom shot too.
You are such a hoot and a good sport. Damn, what fun it would be to have a neighborhood full of 365'ers running amok. But then who would point and whisper things behind our backs if we are ALL in on the joke? LOL
Oy, can you imagine the stories they tell their relatives and friends about the crazy neighbor lady? :-O
@pasadenarose I KNOW!!! I secretly love that I was caught. So freakin' hilarious...and makes the photo that much better. I love when I can back a photo up with a good story. It makes up for my photography shortcomings:). Thanks, my friend. I really appreciate you! Wish I could have been a fly on the wall when they went inside after seeing me in my get up that night!!
@chelmck Ha...thanks, lady. This was SOOOO much fun to do. And even better that the neighbors came home when I was out like this. I felt embarrassed as hell, but it really added to the story.
@nadaa Always happy to help out with that!! Thanks for sharing one, Nada. This was a fun one to do. Stay tuned...hope to do another funny one tomorrow.:)
@seanoneill If you want to see how truly bonkers I really am. The short story is worth the read if you want a weekend laugh. My neighbors must LOVE me!!!
@amandal - i know how it is. until i was 42 i was being carded at clubs and casinos to the consternation of my younger friends. went downhill from there. :-D
So funny -- My neighbor on one side wouldn't notice anything I might or might not do but those on the other side might have me committed! I don't know what they think of me photographing clothes in trees and that's nothing compared to the toenail fairy.
@squamloon Red Riding Ho. Perfect. Yeah the getting caught bit here was pretty classic. Horribly embarrassing, but made it that much better, too. Thanks, Jim.
Maybe it's the tutu tag;-). @squamloon you had mentioned that I had linked back to this, so I was just trying to figure out where. Sometimes I'm losing my mind (or don't remember things). You really should use your Hemmingway selfie as your profile photo. If you ever want to borrow my tutu for a future one let me know:).
Heh heh.... I doubt the tutu will ever grace this body, but there are plenty in the costume closet here at school if I need one. Being a high school teacher I see way too many boys doing the tutu thing for lip synchs and such.... it's actually kinda lost its impact for me as a result.
So anyway maybe I SHOULD change up my profile pic. It's just that the one I have is one of my favorite shots ever, and I have trouble letting it go. I should probably think of photos more like music or sandcastles I guess.
@skipt07 I am sure you are right, Skip...that is hilarious. They won't have to whisper about me for long, though. I thought that they would move away first to escape my craziness, not us.:)) Thanks for the smile!!
@squamloon Yeah, I'm not so into dudes in tutus. Sorry for the suggestion. I had never looked at your profile before. It is cool. I thought it was just an abstract photo of something and not a selfie. I've had a bunch since I started, but have kept the NYC one for awhile. It's hard to let go, but maybe I should switch to this one?!
My dad grew up in NH...in a small town called Alstead. It's near Keene. Ever heard of it. One day I need to make it up to New England for fall. And up to NH to see where he grew up. Last time I was there, I was 5.
@aprilmilani :)))) Same neighbor walked up on me 'killing' a snowman for a shot. We had to move;-). Thank you! And so are you. Can't wait to see that shot you described today!!!
@taffy I did selfies yesterday and they were all horrible. Keep trying...they are so much fun. Thanks so very much for the fav, my friend!!
@mikeable Love your comments, Mike and thanks for the fav and your um...help.:)
@adamj Thank you...so glad you liked it enough to fav. Did you think I'd do it? My poor kids dress...oh well, worth it, I think:).
Well done @adamj good push! :-)
@amrita21 Love, love your comments and thanks so much for the smile and fav. I think it didn't go through, though. Perhaps you hit the button too eagerly;-). You are sweet, lady. Love the mention of madness...you got that right!:)
Imagine the chaos a whole street of 365ers could cause!
I know how it feels late at night when you don't have a photo for the day, although this one looks like it took a bit of pre-planning. Carry on. I can't wait to see what you do next.

@wind_of_the_sothern_sea I wasn't one to play dress up growing up so this was fun. Thanks for the fav and laugh!!:)
@jdr4690 Thanks so much, Rob!:)
Oh and your attempt to link me over here failed. I think your trailing dots were too close to bobfoto
However it's a GREAT picture! Like your style Amanda! :)
@edie Thank you, my friend!!
@twr Thanks so much, sir!!
@shannonshots Thanks so much, Peter. Love your comments!
@sandypw LOVE that I gave you a giggle. Thank you!!!
@kwind Thanks, Kim!!:)
@sugarmuser Thanks, Sharon. So far they haven't spoken to me about the event. I am dying to know what they saw and thought. Thanks, lady!!
@alia_801 I would be arrested if I was with a gang of 365ers, I think. Oy. Thanks, Alia!!
@roseolivia LOVE your great comments, lady. Thank you. I'd so love you for a neighbor. We'd have a blast!
@rennes Thanks, Lisa. Shew, glad it's not just me either!!
@tskipper Thanks, lady. It was fun to pull this off. Selfies are great! I've really gotten into them this year!

@pflaume Thank you, Lisa!!
@espyetta It was so fun to do this...and get caught. Figures, huh? Thanks, MaryBeth!
@sjouk Aw, that is so sweet. Thanks, lady. I so want my neighborhood to be all 365 people!:)
@paulaw That would be amazing. Thanks so much for the sweet compliments and fav, my friend!

i'm hoping to do another selfie tomorrow night while my hubby is at the ballgame... ;p
@gailmmeek How funny...it is fun that I sat and edited and uploaded as a fairy. My poor little girl, though...I stretched out the arms of her fairy wings. They sagged on her yesterday:(. Thanks, Gail!!

Oy, can you imagine the stories they tell their relatives and friends about the crazy neighbor lady? :-O
Although I think the Red Riding Ho trumps it. Of course, you weren't caught by a neighbor on that one...
@seanoneill I should:). Thanks, Sean!
@catwoman2 How funny!! Thanks, Mary!
So anyway maybe I SHOULD change up my profile pic. It's just that the one I have is one of my favorite shots ever, and I have trouble letting it go. I should probably think of photos more like music or sandcastles I guess.
