I Gotta a Little Something in my Eye!! by alophoto

I Gotta a Little Something in my Eye!!

This is an example of when selfies go wrong. Bloody mess of a shoot and the blood ran into my eyes one at a time and it burned like hell.

But in the end, I got the shot I was after, despite the mess and burning and extensive clean up. It could have been worse...I had planned to shoot this in my kitchen and opted for in the shower instead for easier clean up and so as not to stain my white carpet with blood.

See the finished result at Mad Hatters today @madhatters

Can you guess the story?
Yikes!! It's in your eye and in your nose! So creative... but yukky! Fav.

OMG, crazy fantastic. Fav.
July 21st, 2014
Guess what photo popped up first for me this morning? It's Carrie!!! I read that because the prom scene took several days to film, Sissy Spacek chose to keep the bloody make-up on the entire time because it would've been so difficult to match back up. ICK. As a big horror fan, this is a great way to start my day. Fav, of course.

I so hope the postman didn't call. Or your mother. Or the kids' teacher or ....
July 21st, 2014
I'm sure you've learned a lot from this experience to do a fantastic job of Marion Crane in the shower for a "Psycho" re-creation!
July 21st, 2014
Very imaginative. Fav
July 21st, 2014
Haha - Fantastically creative, cops on there way!
July 21st, 2014
Yikes, that is way scary!!
July 21st, 2014

July 21st, 2014
Frighteningly creative, Amanda. Love it. Love the variations to the shots in your album. Just realised that I'm not following you...I am now!
July 21st, 2014
Carrie?
July 21st, 2014
Oh my goodness
July 21st, 2014
I agree with the above, Carrie. I also agree with the comments about being super creative. good idea to do this in the shower. Didn't have a local gym to use?
July 21st, 2014
Egad! Lovely to wake up to!! These shots are both fantastic and I thought Carrie immediately. I'm so impressed with the detail and skill you bring to a shot to create a narrative. These are both awesome!
July 21st, 2014
Saw it on FB. Fav! This is great and you went to such effort too! I thought it was the real Carrie poster! and about the shower...well, there is a shower scene in Carrie too...so it was appropriate it. hee hee Did you hear any ghostly voices saying "Plug it up?"
July 21st, 2014
HA! OMG FAV
July 21st, 2014
just came back for another view. You look exactly like what I remember Carrie looking like in the movie.
July 21st, 2014
Fantastic and, once again, had me laughing out loud.
July 21st, 2014
Jo
That takes me right back to watching Sissy Spacek play the role of Carrie in 1976, very good, and you can even see it running into your eye....ouch! the things you do for your art, excellent set up and outcome as always.
July 21st, 2014
@bill_fe The blood wouldn't have gone over so well in the gym, me thinks:).
July 21st, 2014
Hi, Carrie. "They're all gonna laugh at you." The line I remember the most of that movie. Looking bloody!
July 21st, 2014
@fauxtography365 Referenced that in my other shot. Adam Sandler used that in a song on one of his CD's. Thanks, friend.
July 21st, 2014
Oh Amanda, I simply can't get over your devotion to your craft. What is that red stuff in reality? Pls don't tell me pig's blood, or some such. Brilliant execution!
July 21st, 2014
WOW!! Well done Amanda!!! very cool :)
July 21st, 2014
@soboy5 Yes, good guess!!

@cejaanderson Thanks, lady. I did a shot of her a few months back (same shower, too). This time, though, I was going for Stephen King's Carrie. I only used the shower to contain the extremely bloody mess. I had thought to do this in my kitchen, but the clean up and carpeting stains would have been a nightmare!!

@bill_fe @happysnap I made the blood, not animals or human luckily. It was edible and I got it online: corn syrup, I used a couple cups, 2 pkgs of cherry Koolaid mix, a teaspoon or so of cocoa power and some water to thin it out. I could also have thickened it if necessary with corn starch. So yummy, but not so great in the eyes!!:)
July 21st, 2014
Very cool, can only be Carrie
July 21st, 2014
@graemestevens My sweet puppy dog version. Guess i do creepy, too. I do all genres. Thanks.
July 21st, 2014
This is no laughing matter, but your creativity and look on your face made me laugh! Perfect staging! And awesome dedication to getting the shot!! fav
July 21st, 2014
You are brave persevering through thick and thin (blood)! I hope none of your neighbours saw!
July 21st, 2014
@maggiemae Nope, just seen by me. I took this in the shower for ease of clean up. We moved to this place in December. By March, our neighbors right next door had their house on the market. They had seen me outside in a pink bunny suit doing selfies. They sold the house fast, but that fell through. The new owners to be probably seen me doing something else crazy, who knows;-). Thanks, Maggiemae!!

@jsw0109 Check out the crap getting into my eye. It hurt like hell, but tasted good. Thanks for the recipe. Next time I do Carrie, I wear a visor;-).
July 21st, 2014
The fact that you even *knew* how to make fake blood is astounding to me! It looks totally authentic and absolutely creepy! What a great movie that was! You rock!
July 21st, 2014
@Weezilou My dear friend, Jeff, a fellow hatter, gave me a recipe...and then I looked it up online. Not too hard surprisingly, but gosh, keep it out of those eyes. Ouchie. Thanks so much for your kind comments!!!
July 21st, 2014
Just had to give you a fav for all the trouble you went to, to get this shot. It makes me giggle every time I see it!
July 21st, 2014
Snow white lost in Norman Bates house !
July 21st, 2014
So creative Fav!
July 21st, 2014
something Jesus-like. those Catholic images where Jesus is covered in blood but otherwise pretty well groomed with a hair not out of place. Great work, the eyes certainly take it to the next level so it was worth it.
July 21st, 2014
Wow, what a cool shot, Amanda. You were super smart to do this in your shower. Be careful of your beautiful eyes as they are the only two you get. FAV
July 22nd, 2014
@darsphotos Sheesh, I know. Thanks so much for the kind words and faves my friend. Did you see the Hatters verion that I was going for? Did you ever see the movie Carrie?

@chewyteeth Thanks so much, Dave. I am all about taking it to a whole nutha level:). Love your comments...I can see that strangely. I did make sure to make myself look all prom like and groomed prior to dumping the blood. Hubby said I was getting too cute for Carrie, but it was for prom. And I was to be the queen!!
July 22nd, 2014
@amandal You are welcome. I have to go to the hatters project and not sure I saw Carrie but this is like freak Halloween movies. You did awesome. Hey, I am missing my zoom but will get used to use the lenses to more up and down. Not much to use in this 18-55 lens.
July 22nd, 2014
Will this be your updated profile picture? ;>)
July 22nd, 2014
Oh my gosh...that's great! You have really out done yourself! Fav!!
July 22nd, 2014
And I thought I'd seen you at your most bizarre but you've ready gone all out to get a shot. Amazing.
July 22nd, 2014
You are just so creative......awesome Carrie shot, the only horror film I have ever watched!
July 22nd, 2014
Cool shot though it does look somewhat messy and chaotic to shoot!
July 22nd, 2014
Haha - you seem to have such great ideas!
July 22nd, 2014
@bill_fe Perhaps it would lose me followers? Some people aren't into blood.:)
July 22nd, 2014
I am laughing
Molten eyes here lol
July 22nd, 2014
@annied Molten blood eyes. I've had burst blood vessels before. Once when I got engaged my eye was filled with blood. Looked like a demon or something out of a horror movie. Thanks, Annie. Glad to give you a laugh:).
July 22nd, 2014
Totally mad, Amanda, but you don't fool me! Certain Fav!
July 22nd, 2014
@yrhenwr YES!! Love it, glad I can't trick you. Thanks so much!!!
July 22nd, 2014
a bloody fav it is :-)
July 22nd, 2014
@bill_fe Here you go again. Maybe the tag was wrong or too close to the other. Hate it when tags go bad. I made the blood, not animals or human luckily.
July 22nd, 2014
@friend2303 Awesome...thanks, man!! And it helps when the photographer loves me. It makes me really comfortable in front of the camera. Like here;-).
July 22nd, 2014
@bobfoto Check out the crap actually running into my eyeball here. Ouchie!
July 23rd, 2014
@amandal Thanks my friend.
July 23rd, 2014
@bill_fe Of course. You gonna make some? I'm hearing now how I am creeping people out with my gory shot. Whoops. Not like I normally do stuff like this. Gotta keep people on their toes is what I think.
July 23rd, 2014
I may make some, right at the moment I don't have a shot in mind. I just got a recipe for bubbles from a co-worker. She gave me some powder her husband uses to make them.A little packet, I'd guess about two ounces. I have to mix that with 28 oz of dish detergent, and 3 GALLONS of water. I'll be forever blowing bubbles!
July 23rd, 2014
@bill_fe Blood bubbles;-). Have fun. And you gotta taste a little. Mmmm:).
July 23rd, 2014
lol
July 23rd, 2014
@amandal - Nasty! Ummm did you use a tripod? My soup shot was handheld and I was so conscious to try and avoid soup on my hands and on the camera.
July 23rd, 2014
The mad lady has done it again! Super fav.
July 23rd, 2014
@bobfoto Yes, tripod. I had a remote in the hand and the other hand dumped the bloody mess and smeared it around. Also needed it it help rinse my poor burning eyes. I've had all sorts of eye issues this summer. You are more hard core than me perhaps? I dono, though, this was messier than soup. Tasted and smelled better, though.
July 23rd, 2014
Super job of creepy, it's the eyes!
July 24th, 2014
@bigugly Burned like hell.
July 24th, 2014
OMG!!!!! Call 911!!
July 24th, 2014

@paulaw Thanks so much, Paula!!!
