Here is another shot from fall from back in October. I went out so much and had so many photos that I was overwhelmed with them. Going though and sorting and deleting them now and I am finding ones that are too good to not share. This is one of them. Maybe one of my last that I will share from fall. Moving onto winter. Feeling it today...just freezing and on my 3rd hot drink of the day and I am only halfway through the day. Brrrr...
Ok, so I wasn't on my knees but flat on my belly. I love to lay down for shots every chance I get. Such a great pov to get low.
The title reminds me of a Christmas carol that became a family joke for us growing up. O Holy Night was sung every year at our church Christmas gathering by this woman in an operatic style. It was a bit much for a little girl. I remember talking about it at home afterwards, imitating it, laughing. For some reason the "Fall on your knees" bit stood out. The next year, I remember trying to unsuccessfully suppress my giggles during the rendition. Trying not to laugh when you can't or shouldn't is so hard to do. Sometimes it produces a snort. I seem to remember tears streaming down my face. Poor lady.
"Fall on your knees, and hear the angles sing. Oh night divine. Oh night, when Christ was born." I find myself smiling right now. Love those old family jokes, those things that make you a family unit, the fun things that you only know.
I was just wondering what happened in your area ; snow ....then colors of autumn .... then I saw the day ! It's a flashback ! And a very good one , love those golden colors and your POV
The things we do for our povs! Nice belly shot. One day I will have a camera with a flip out rear screen as I am starting to not like crawling around on my belly for images - lol.
This is a perfect POV! I laughed and laughed again and then again reading your narrative. My mother does not have a sentimental bone in her body, but I have a childhood memory of my own about this carol. I was very little and it was Christmas Eve in the sanctuary. A German exchange student sang "O Holy Night" in English, acapella. His voice was exquisite. I looked up at my mother, and she had tears in her eyes. It was so moving, even to a very tiny girl.
Such a beautiful capture. And a great pov...those leaves look so dry and crisp...but I bet cold!! Great dof and color .. it is really lovely. Love you story too of course..as always. Some people can tell a good story...and I always enjoy yours.
Enjoyed both your super POV of this autumn scene AND your narrative of a childhood memory. I'm sure now that the next time I hear the song "Oh Holy Night", I won't be able to help but think of you when the words 'fall your knees' are song.
Thanks much for all the nice things you said about my brown images. It's been a delight to make your acquaintance here on 365!
Great perspective! I began to wonder where you found trees with this many leaves still on them? Then I noticed this was taken in October. I bought a photography book by Bryan Peterson and that is exactly what he suggests. Get down on your tummy for unusual perspective shots! I haven't done it yet. Since my camera has an articulating screen I can put the camera on the ground and tilt the screen so I can compose and focus.
We had a lady who sang in church with that operatic style and we would sing in that wavery tone and laugh ourselves silly! Puts me off even now! Gorgeous bright colours to cheer one up!
Beautiful Amanda, I love your pov. Also loved your story about the lady singing at church, brought back lots of memories of myself and my 4 sisters trying to suppress giggles for all sorts of reasons in church as kids!
What a beautiful shot, Amanda. We are in the midst of this now. So many beautiful colors of leaves on the ground. I never get tired of the awesome colors. You make me laugh with your stories. You are a wonderful story teller. Wonderful times back then. I remember Christmas Eve midnight mass and singing in the choir. Back then you did not have to be able to sing (I cannot sing at all, though wish I could). Great memories. FAV
@friend2303 I'm good. Better than I was this time last year. My car was totaled last week by some tree limbs. That's a bit of a pain to car shop, but besides that, I'm great. Loving this time of year...feeling in the mood for Christmas. And thank you!!!
This is gorgeous.....love your POV, the sharpness of the leaves in the foreground, and all that glorious bokeh in the trees beyond....the light is superb....FAV for sure!!
