Sending you a smile and cheer and a tail wag (from my dog) today!
Happy Friday and nearly freakin' weekend!!! Today starts my kids holiday/winter break and mine for 2 weeks from work and Michael's for a week. We have great stuff planned...a staycation.
I was inspired by April Milani's adorable pup photo this week and another that I received in a Christmas card. I thought...I can do that. I should do that, too. It was NOT EASY. Granted my pooch is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I put the hat on her and she shook her head or looked up and knocked it off. She would not look at me. It was pretty darn near impossible. But I did get this one shot and a bunch of flops and a frustrated Hope. You know, she is so easy going that she didn't get annoyed. Just rolled over on her back and the hat fell off. Darn hat is covered in Hope hair now. Sigh.
@aprilmilani If only I could train under you for a week or a month or...You are such a master of light, a masterful photographer. Me, I practically point and shoot compared to you:). Was your dog shot easy to get. Mine was not even close.
Adorable. @jyokota Whilst I agree with you Junko about the absent eye focus I'm sure with a shy young model the extra time necessary to obtain the perfect focus would be almost impossible judging by the tales of woe. Still a totally delightful shot.
@365projectorgsebgritt@jyokota I would have liked the whole face in focus: eyes and nose, but perhaps it was the lens I was using? 35mm. With the challenge of her, i was lucky to get this. I was trying to focus on the eyes. Stinker!
@365projectorgsebgritt@amandal -- I REALLY like that the NOSE is in focus and the eyes not. Like I said, it focuses on doggy-ness in such a photographic way, and it made me smile of sniffing dogs that greet me with their noses. :)
@jyokota@amandal Sorry Junko, I'm not stepping on toes here. I agree with you. Dogs interpret the world predominantly through smell. Depending on breed, dogs have a sense of smell between 1,000 and 10,000,000 times better than humans. Entirely correct the focus should be on her nose.
@365projectorgsebgritt -- I hope you know by now that no toe stepping is ever perceived on my part, just fun bantering about what we see and perceive! @amandal -- if only you knew my extraordinary allergies to chemical fragrances and that I'm known as "the bionic nose" you would find your comment even more humorous and I'm probably close to a dog in sniffing ability! And definitely a sweet doggy profile in any case!
Awww... love the discussion about where the focus should be. Accidentally, or not, this is adorable. I had a fantasy about trying this with my pup, too, but we will see. She is a cutie and this is a lovely holiday shot which you may treasure for many years.
A Fav! first for all the work that went into this photo! And then also for how fantastic it came out. No matter how many flops you got, what matters is that you got THIS awesome pic. It's a winner!
Love the focus on the nose, with the aperture at 2.5 that's what you get. You need to close down that opening to get Hope totally in focus. I totally love it this way. Artsy
