Architectural ambling

Continuing my architectural explorations of Melbourne.

RMIT's Swanston Academic Building (Building 80) designed by Lyons Architects and opened in 2012.

It was a grey day, so the photo doesn't really do justice to the vibrant colours of the building.
Wonderful

I think that many times an architectural photo and others, having a human element greatly increases the strength of the image. This is an example.

I sometimes think that architects over think their work but then I am a simple soul. Fascinating to see.

Thanks for the visit.
I sometimes think architects sacrifice design that works for people in favour of a big splash or a big 'look at me' kind of statement. When they get both of those working together the design is wonderful.
In this building, the interior is pretty spectacular but the facilities for students are excellent and the design flows well. See my next photo.

The special glass or metal? cover is still spectacular

Mostly glass although the entry way is shaped metal.

Yes it is! I wish I could convey the sense of the RMIT precinct of Swanston Street as it is very vibrant and colourful with many really interesting buildings
