Cathedral Arcade, Nicholas Building, Melbourne by ankers70

Cathedral Arcade, Nicholas Building, Melbourne

The Cathedral Arcade (1924), on the ground floor of the heritage-listed Nicholas Building, connects Flinders Lane and Swanston Street. It is the only extant example of a lead-light roofed and fan-lit arcade in Melbourne. It was commissioned by the Nicholas brothers who made their fortune through Aspro, the tablet form of Aspirin.

Babs is right, Melbourne does have some beautiful arcades, many of them dating from the 1880s onward when, because of gold, Melbourne was the wealthiest city in the world. Thankyou all for visiting.
