The spider, dropping down from twig,
Unfolds a plan of her devising,
A thin premeditated rig
To use in rising.

And all that journey down through space,
In cool descent and loyal hearted,
She spins a ladder to the place
From where she started.

Thus I, gone forth as spiders do
In spider's web a truth discerning,
Attach one silken thread to you
For my returning.

Love the poem !! But Annie what a frightening sight -- who is frightening whom !! ha ha ! Looks like a scene or a book cover from a horror film or story !! I am afraid I would be traumatised in coming face to face with these monstrous spiders in fact even the smallest of spider terrorises me !!! Such a candid but fun capture !! A big FAV for me !

Brilliant shot, but you keep these things as pets. Are you quite mad. ha ha. I'll rephrase that, you are quite mad.
I did save a huntsman a few days ago when it appeared in our bathroom, but unfortunately, the redback which was trying to come in our front door and the white tail in our bedroom last night have both gone to that great spiders web in the sky.
