My Garden - The Ribbon Bush (Homalocladium platycladum)

The Ribbon Bush is a terrific, leaf-less plant from the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific with long, flattened stems resembling tapeworms - hence its nickname "Tapeworm Plant".
What you see are the stems. The plant does make small leaves, but they only appear occasionally on the new growth. The segmented stems are perfectly flat, and are smooth and durable. The plant produces white flowers and attractive red fruit.

The lady at the nursery told me it was an inch plant - she was incorrect - it took me a bit of googling to find what it really was - the image search "flat ribbon plant in one inch segments" finally gave me one image that fit - and lucky for me it had its name!
I just wandered out to have a closer look now that I know a bit more - to my delight I could see small leaves on the new growth and.......little flowers - really little flowers - will try and get a close-up if I can!
A fascinating plant, look forward to seeing the flowers.
