Why?? Because i love a challenge, the photo that inspired it and Sally's apple.
Ok!! Rules are 1/only compare to past self - I wouldn't have contemplated this 2 months ago and 2/ say more good than bad about it.
1- past self much more sensible than today's self
2- the dents for the apple stalks look ok, it vaguely looks like a glass lamp and that's it .....
Definitely not mullered. The lamp looks like glass which I imagine is difficult, the apples look good enough to eat and the greens blend nicely together. @30pics4jackiesdiamond
Well...
The very thing that you did it, shows a lot of confidence. And that is a plus. You are one step closer to a better painter.
The apples (even if the right hand one looks a bit deflated :) - but that could be a crease in the cloth under the apples, so it would only need a bit of shadow on the apple) are soooooo tasty... I love the colours and passing from one tone to another. And indeed, those dents are so fine.
The top glass definitely needs a bit more work. You need to watch those white highlights. Their shapes are quite sharp. And the cloth looks a bit flat. Buuut....the details on that foot of the lamp... You killed me. I love them. They are so loose and a bit impressionistic rendered. I simply love it. The bottom of the lamp and the apples are very well done.
I really like the slight impressionist approach. You did it! And I love it.
(bear in mind that I speak before trying, so buzz off... Moni) @30pics4jackiesdiamond
I think it's amazing to even try something like this, I wouldn't know where to start! 9/10 of this is just giving it a go and enjoying it. Perfection not required. I love the greens.
Jackie, I love this! Amazing that you have painted it so quickly. And also amazing, if I understand correctly, that you have only a couple of months watercolor experience. I especially admire how you handled the lamp, especially the chimney and collar. I think glass must be so hard to paint. To see my photo created in paint is such a special treat. Thanks @30pics4jackiesdiamond
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I admire your industriousness for attempting this so quickly. You’ve done an excellent job in re-creating the photo. There isn’t any part of it that I look at and wonder “what is that”. I’m especially impressed that you attempted this I with acrylics. Well done!
This is lovely and glass is supposed to be so difficult to paint. I've never tried but you have mastered it. I particularly like the metal collar around the glass neck it looks so shiny. Well done!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I'm proud of you too for accepting this challenge and going forth. How much you must have learned doing this, I see a style of yours emerging in your art. I think it's a wonderful expression and interpretation.
Well thank you all. I've looked at a glass painting tutorial and I'm going to do it again, on my heavier paper and over a few days to let it dry.
I think I watch too many of Bob's Joy of Painting and his Happy Trees where he does a whole huge artwork in 30 minutes. So for current project taking a leaf out of vikki's @summerfield book and take days to do the piece.
