I painted this triptych of the Machias River, Machiasport Maine some years ago. It's a Port Road/Rt 92 location along the riverbank about half a mile before we reach the lane to our summer house off of that road, Rt. 92 which eventually ends in the sea at Starboard Cove.
I needed the calm of this summer haven today after receiving a heartbreaking, very early morning email from very dear friends. It contained very sad news. I wish them the peace of this spot, they will need it to cope.
