Merry had a trip to the vets today and it was not her favorite day, but she is an angel at the clinic. Her old show cat tolerance of handling must kick in, she sat patiently as she was examined. Mostly we looked out the window, they have a great cat perch, while we waited, but she ducked behind the chair as she got out of her case. My shot for today shows her matching the floor line colors.
She has had two other trips for the same thing, an itchy spot that she had licked until it' was infected. The first time was in October, she had licked a large area of her tummy.A yeast infection in her ears was discovered as well then, so the vet said the itching was probably a food sensitivity. We cut out fish, she had ear meds and an antibiotic shot. She picked another spot on her inner knee area in November, so we cut out the chicken and went to turkey. All was well till I noticed something as I was cropping my blip photo on Sunday. I watched it and caught her licking it, so off we went today. We'll try rabbit this time and it could be dust mites as well. Old house, not much hope in eradicating those tiny devils. She's on a tapering dose of steroids(no side effects in cats) and should be better soon. She's purring and thrilled to be home and I feel relieved.
I retired from public school teaching after happily spending twenty eight years playing in Kindergarten. Now I fill my days watching cat antics, taking endless...
Hope she'll be better. Sissi has had similar thing for years. We never really found out which food she's sensitive to, but she seems to do a lot better with foods that do not contain any grains.
