I took this through the glass storm door this morning while the Red and a bigger Gray were sharing peanuts that had been tossed out earlier for them. It was dark and dismal, a good day to stay inside. I'd already been out to check the feeders and it felt like rain any minute, so I took the photo through the glass.
Notice the two white lines on Rex's mid front legs. I didn't see them when I took the series of shots. When I first looked at the photos I was puzzled, what were those white lines? It wasn't a long exposure, so they couldn't be raindrops. They must be arm hairs, arm whiskers. I can see others I think in the background. I've never noticed these on the many red squirrel photographs I've taken before, but they are in every photo I took today. They'll help me recognize this bold and brazen little red dervish next time I see a red raiding the feeders. That will probably be tomorrow.
