White-breasted Nutchatch by berelaxed

White-breasted Nutchatch

We've had light snow all day, it's really very beautiful with all the snow capped trees and branches. The birds fed heavily this morning, but were in the woods until later in the afternoon. I bundled up and stood among our feeders and captured a few shots. This lovely White-breasted Nuthatch was creeping down the branch headed to a feeder for some shelled sunflower seeds. He snatched one and immediately flew away. This is unlike the Chickadees, who eat often eat their seeds immediately among the branches of the large bush that is the backdrop of our feeders. He may have been taking it to tuck into a hiding place in a tree for another day.

For the Record,
This day came in with snow that has continued all day. We're expecting very cold temperatures tonight and tomorrow, the coldest of the season.Brrr.
Sweet capture!
