Bakery goodies Bathed in salt air

We read about a small, community supported cottage bakery in the nearby town of Scituate which is right on the coast. It sounded like a place we would be interested in trying. They specialize in naturally leavened sourdough bread and pastries, with an emphasis on using whole grains and seasonal ingredients. The owner has been baking and selling bread and scones in what he calls his "bread barn" since 2018. All of their baked goods are handmade from scratch and they only use only certified organic flour, sourced from a family-owned mill that processes only certified organic wheat, much of it grown in New York and New England. All of the seeds are also certified organic. It's a weekend only baking operation and there is a special order and pick up procedure that we participated in today. We bought a dense Danish style loaf, blueberry scones and two delicious sticky buns.

We had packed small trays, coffee in a thermos and mugs. So, we went directly to the marshy shore to eat those sticky buns in the sun. While the sun was warm, the salty air was freezing and after a bit we retreated to the car to finish the delights. When we finished we did go for a nice walk along the marsh, perhaps walking off some calories. I'm sure we will order again and again.

The weekend has been a lovely change from the steam boiler and cellar woes. Estimates and workers will be in and out all next week, so it was good to have had a change of pace in the salt air.

For the Record,
This day came in sunny, but cold.
Sounds like a wonderful dayl.
