Howard Zinn,1922-2010, was a historian, author, professor, playwright, and activist. He was a political science professor at Boston University when I was student at Wheelock College in the late 60s and early 70s. He was very active in the anti-war movement during the Vietnam War. I attended an unforgettable lecture he gave at Wheelock during those troubled times. He spoke often at political rallies, lectures and forums, often focusing his attention on students and teachers. He ended his autobiography with these words...
"We don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an endless succession of presents, and to live now as we think humans should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory."
