The next few days I am going to take you around the village of Portmeirion --a village designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1923 and 1975 , in the style of an Italian Village of Portifilio . the village is now owned by a Charitable Trust . Situated in Penrhyndeudraeth just a few miles from Porthmadog in N Wales A popular tourist attraction ,Portmeirion has served as the location for a numerous films and T.V. Shows -- most famously serving as "The Village " in the 1960's T.V. Show ---"The Prisoner " They hold an annual convention in the village for the true Prisoner's followers . A real fun time in the village of the characters of the show , the "rover " orb or large ball ,the mini mokes, the penny -farthings, the great chess board on the lawn -- but to name of a few , with marches and chanting the lifamous line from the show "I am a name and not a number " !
In my younger days we used to go to the conventions if we happened to be up in Portmadog !!! --those were the days !!
Oh Beryl, this is my favourite place on earth. I have often said that if I ever had to go back to live in the UK I would want to live at Portmeirion, it is a magical place.; I just love it. I have been there many times and I remember The Prisoner too.

Was a cafe or something there if I remember.
@happypat Hello Pat , refreshed after your little break ? Unfortunately I didn-t go down to the beach as I was in my buggy and was advised that the hill down was too steep to come back up in it !! Gary went down I do not know what photos he took I must investigate !!
To me, although I've not been to Italy, this is typical of a village architecture there. We visited Portmeirion once while on holiday at Barmouth when I was about 13. I remember my mum being entranced with it.
