Now this is my baking --time to make the Christmas Cake the , nuts , spices , the orange juice & peel and the spirits were prepared and left to soak overnight before the cake was made and baked this morning -- the baking smells lingering in every crook and cranny in the house is absolutely divine - I wish I could share the baking smells with you all
When teaching ,I always made my Christmas Cake during the October 1/2 term holiday -- so this year I am a fortnight late -- but still time for it to mature !
Bet it smells delicious in the house:-)I've made one for my son and family, but not for ourselves. We won't be here for Christmas or New Year,we're off to Cyprus for three weeks:-)
WOW...DELICIOUS capture! looks and sounds delicious now if only you get figure out to post the aroma it would almost be like tasting it! This looks beautiful. So how do you save it...not a freezer I am guessing...just refrigeration?
@eyesmile As it is a rich fruitcake ( lots of fruit ) + brandy in it, it will keep a long time I wrap it in foil, and put it in a tin or plastic container and kept in a cool place -- usually in the pantry on top od the freezer . between now and Christmas I shall be "feeding" it with Brandy=pouring a spoonful of brandy over it once per week until I marzipan and ice the cake ! @lhart Yes Lynne --one must feed it !! lol !
