Begining of the end --- by beryl

Begining of the end ---

The scene from my bedroom window of the land we have valiantly fought to preserve - but had been ear-marked for development of over 300 new houses ! Very soon we will have no "green and pleasant land " - sorry to sound bitter !
N.B. Please see the added not as a reply to Myrna !

I would be bitter too
A beautiful outlook so sad you will lose ot

What a shame. There is an empty block of land next to our house and has been that way for the 17 years we have lived here. Now the land is up for sale, so we may have neighbours soon too.

It is a pity you should lose this view and I too wouldn't be happy about it. it's a fact though Beryl, that the population of the uk has increased by 5 million since 2001.

Too bad people couldn't have banded together to save it. Plant a bunch of fast big growing trees at the end of your property to block some of it.........

@sailingmusic Ooh we did !! Our group " save the H------ fields" and fought long and hard but very often these things are cut and dried pre the time the public are made aware !! It is not only my view that worries mr but also the pressure put on the local road which is chaos the beginning of the day and commuters home time Lack of facilities -Hospitls , GPcentres , schools , water and sewage facilities ! Wildlife !! etc etc -- the Large Oak trees are protected !!

Saw a posting on my FB site "I don't understand when destroy something created by man we call it "vandalism", but when we destroy something created by nature we call it "progress".

A great shot but very sorry to hear about the development of your green space.
December 1st, 2014
That is sad to hear. I wouldn't like that either. Great shot, though.

Oh no already!! How very upsetting that sight is! They have no soul !

Looks like your view is going to change drastically, too much green land being built on.

Nicely done, Beryl, good editing.

How upsetting, feel for you. I can feel your annoyance in this shot

Such a shame so much green land is being built on, i do wish more could be done with empty houses and brown field sites. I agree that it's more than just the building of new homes it is the pressure put on services as well. Nice shot.

So sad, today we saw on news that a N. E. council was redeveloping 100 derelict houses to turn them back to homes.....so much better than digging up the countryside.

This is what happened to us 20 years ago and we decided to shift! The lovely green fields became a sea of roofs!

Seem in our country to. The population increase and they all wanted a house. Cities growing bigger and bigger. In my lifetime the population of our country double . The problem is : Cities started on good soil. And the increase is nearby so the good soil in the country get less. They don`t start a new city on the worse soil.

Oh no Beryl so they got permission and have started. Maybe they'll come across some rare species that'll halt their progress! I fully understand your feelings.

You must be devastated - it's so unfair.
December 1st, 2014
It becomes outrageous, but I suppose whoever owned the land has made a packet
December 1st, 2014
I am so sorry to hear your beautiful view will soon be gone.
December 2nd, 2014
Sorry you lost your fight to save your lovely land!!! Progress comes with a price, and sometimes it's more than we wish to pay, and sometimes we have no choice but to pay it anyway!!!
December 2nd, 2014
Great shot. However, I am sorry you lost the fight to preserve the land. I have seen that happen all to often in my lifetime.
December 2nd, 2014
Very sad to read that the fight was lost -- it's so hard to see development come in like this at such high cost to the natural habitat.
December 2nd, 2014
That's a great shame, Beryl. It seems to be the same everywhere and it puts a strain on existing services. I recently phoned our surgery for a routine appointment and was given one 5 weeks ahead!

An incredibly sad picture Beryl
