The new view from my bedroom window by beryl

The new view from my bedroom window

We objected , but to no avail -- and the houses are being built on Haygate fields ! I shall always miss the lovely view of the country side but I must admit the houses on the front facing the road are beautiful , four and five bedroom homes , two already with sold signs on them ! I suppose this is progress and we will have to live with the changes !
Lee
Progress, and an increased UK population Beryl. Here's to good new neighbours.

Lovely houses Beryl, but we don't like change ,do we.

Boo
hope you get nice people moving in

It's hard to lose a lovely view. From your shot, the new homes look well built. Where I live, the area has been overdeveloped and to be frank has no esthetic appeal.

These houses look beautiful indeed, Beryl, but nothing can compare to a view of a lovely countryside.

@gijsje My thoughts exactly Bep , but then I must remember , back in the late '40s early 50's the cul-de-sac I live in was once lovely green fields !

I guess we can't stop progress. Neat shot, though/

Interesting shot Beryl, same here in West Sussex, around Horsham, in our village...huge new estates, not very lovely. We are still semi-rural...just!

Apparently we need more housing everywhere & these look very nice. A shame to have lost your rural view though!

It must be a huge change, Beryl, to have this view. Here, new houses are springing up everywhere. The result, among others, is a 6 week wait to see the GP!

@quietpurplehaze - Hazel , medical and education resources are stretched to the limit aren't they - In our Health centre you have to wait at least 30 mins before they answer the phone and to get an appointment we have gone back to the old system of cuing out side the building till they open at 8,15 am !! ( if you are fit enough to do so !! )

More houses going up but without the supporting infrastructure. Here too!

Nice looking buildings.

It’s a shame and the same thing is happening to our estate as the fields around us are now being built on. Nowhere stays the same.`

@beryl

That is really awful Beryl. What will happen in the future is terrible to consider

This photo brings it home to you the change that long time residents face. Your view us completely different Beryl, quite a shock to see it! They do look lovely houses but pretty much identical to the many being built in our village. All £300,000 plus homes, I have no idea who is moving into them they need a massive deposit. No good for young ones who are the ones that need the houses. A token affordable ones & I suppose they are hoping people will move up the ladder & vacate the more affordable homes. Our schools are all chock a block & no parking space to shop in the village & of course ages to wait for a doctor appointment. They should think of the infra structure at the same time they build!
To be honest they say we need more houses but lots for sale round here, I haven't heard anybody say there are no houses available. A building firms bonanza & council money tree!

I am just glad they are pretty homes!
October 4th, 2018
They do look very nice homes - the day will come when the field at the back of us with have the same fate ...
October 4th, 2018
looks like a lot of houses going up there. sorry you are losing what must have been a lovely view :(
October 4th, 2018
Great view and capture of you neighbourhood.
( I guest the increase of people , and therefore the building of new houses, is in nearly every country in western Europe happen.)
October 4th, 2018
Sorry you have lost your rural view we lost our view of fields 30 years ago and now even more houses and blocks of flats are going up beyond that and in Peterborough office blocks are being converted into flats everywhere.
October 4th, 2018
Oh no the houses are so close. I hope they can't see into your house too. You must miss your rural view so much.
October 4th, 2018
the consequences will probably mean more cars and parking troubles , lovely shot though beryl
October 4th, 2018
They are pretty homes, but I know you will miss your former view.
October 5th, 2018
Great shot. Malta's face has been changed forever with buildings going up everywhere and protesters keep on being unheeded.
October 5th, 2018
We have the same near us - supposedly green belt, but they find a way round that!
October 5th, 2018
Nice
October 5th, 2018
I'd be gutted losing such a view, but what can you do? :-(
