Magpie Rock Wildfire by bjywamer

Magpie Rock Wildfire

This wildfire has been burning only 8 miles from our little town of Dixon, Montana since last Monday (July 27th). My neighbor, who is with our small, local fire department, offered to drive me down close to it so I could get some photos. Beautiful, but sobering to realize it is so close to our home. Today ( August 1st) is the first day the news has indicated any containment of the fire. The last report I heard it was burning over 3000 acres!
That is like you said amazing and sobering. I'm praying for the safety of the fire fighters and your home. Do they know how it started?

@olivetreeann They think it started from "leftover" lightning that was smoldering on the ground (or under the ground?).

@lindasees Thank you, Linda! I owe the opportunity to my neighbor, who called me and said, " Grab your camera and I'll take you down to where the fire is burning!"

@milaniet We have had some smoke, of course. Yesterday morning was the worst right here in Dixon, but it was much better by afternoon.

Heartbreaking to see wildfires... I think not only of human loss of life or property, but loss of forest and wildlife. Prayers this is under control right away. Maybe the Lord will send rain. Stay safe.
