Some people tell me it is morbid but, I love walking through cemeteries. Edmonton has several of them and this one is across from where I work. It is The Edmonton Municipal Cemetery and it is the oldest one in the city. I am not sure exactly how far it goes back, however, one day I did see a tombstone with the date on it of April 1867.
I thought that this would be a great setting for a b/w shot
we share an interest, what i see different in old graves is the level of devotion, time to prepare stone, wording etc. I will post a few too.this is beautiful craftmanship, great symbol
There are several old cemetaries in my area and some of the graves go back before the Revolutionary War. I have it the back of my head to wander through one of them one of these days. The choice of b&w for this was excellent. It lends itself well to the subject. Good job!
been meaning to do cemeteries, too, but it's been too hot to go around, plus i don't have a wing man to go around with. this shot, my friend, is great especially that you did it in black and white. by the way, is that the 'john mcrae' of the famous 'flander's field' poem?
@bkbinthecity - i should research that on the internet. i've been meaning to do it and i keep on dithering. love the poem, learned it in high school and i still can recite it. thank you.
I like cemeteries as well. I find them peaceful and interesting. Growing up, we would attend the annual Labor Day picnic at our church. It was in and around the cemetery and we ate the most delicious barbecue chicken dinners while sitting on the grounds of the cemetery. Great times!
