One of the antique stores that we were shopping at the other day has a few murals on the side of the building depicting different aspects of Edmonton's history.
This one shows off different types of races. On July 1st which is our big national holiday Edmonton would host a series of races. They were called Dominion Day Races.
Today horse racing and auto racing have continued to be part of this holiday
So I have had a couple of busy days so I am hoping to get caught up in looking at everyone's pictures and commenting on them and responding to all of your wonderful comments on my last couple of pictures
@bkbinthecity I saw the tractor in the mural and just assumed that's what it meant. But around here it's what they call tractor "pulls" that draws a crowd. It's the same idea as when they hitch up to horses or oxen and see how weight they can pull, only a tractor is used instead. Jeff and I went to one once where the owners were allowed to modify the engine. You wouldn't believe some of the things they used on those engines and boy were they LOUD!!
