Day six of our staycation found us continuing on our driving tour of the McCauley neighbourhood from the other day. Just before we were going home I mad one more stop to take a look a house on 97 Street. In this section of downtown there are only a couple of houses still standing most of the buildings are now for commercial use.
As I approached this house I saw this lady out front sweeping the sidewalk. I began to talk to her and I discovered her name is Antoinette and she is 88 years old. I also discovered that her parents moved into this house in 1925 so they could attend the French Canadian Roman Catholic Church a couple of blocks away.
She has lived here ever since and continues to be a huge part of the neighbourhood to this day. It was such a pleasure to talk with her and I was so pleased when she agreed to letting me take her picture.
She definitely made my day
She looks like a lovely lady. Her story is sweet....and lived in the same house all those years. Not many people in this day and age can say that! Like her apron. Do women wear aprons anymore??!!
