John Walter the Man Himself by bkbinthecity

John Walter the Man Himself

So I thought a nice finish to the little series of pictures I have posted the past three days of the homes built by John Walter would be a couple of family photos.
On the left is an archive photo from 1904 of John Walter himself. On the right is a photo of his grandson. also named John Walter.
I had the pleasure of meeting his grandson on one of our stops at the museum. John and his wife were there when the museum was celebrating the birthday of John Walter.
It was very interesting talking to his grandson who unfortunately was born after his grandfather had passed away. He did however have a lot of stories passed on to him by his father and also had fond memories of times spent in the houses as they belonged to the family for many years before finally being sold to the City of Edmonton
Lovely story and photos of the houses and now the builder and grandson - how neat that you got to meet him.

History becomes even more powerful when you can speak with those who lived it first hand. In this case second hand- but still close enough to get a feeling of what this family was like.
