Or in easier terms, someone who observes Lent. Well the season of Lent starts this week and we will be observing that at Marketplace Chapel. For those who may have just started following my project my wife and I are chaplains at Marketplace Chapel. Yes this mall has a chapel in it. Now for those who have been following for a while the good news is that the chapel which was facing possible closure last December, it will be staying open thanks to the donations of many kindhearted individuals.
Now back to Lent. The chapel will be having special prayer services each night Monday thru Saturday for the season of Lent.
In this picture you can see a very special hand carved Communion Table and then a special alter in front of the cross
First of all, I'm happy for you that things worked out to have your Chapel stay open. Second: I never heard of that word (and I went to Catholic school back in the Latin days). Third: what are those little round pods? Are they holders for the Communion wafers? And lastly: I must admit I pictured your Chapel as a brighter, more cheerful place. This looks quite serious. I guess it would be peaceful in the middle of a busy mall.
I never heard of that word either. But great news for the Mall Chapel. We will be starting off Lent tomorrow with the Anglo-Catholic tradition of receiving ashes at church.
@colleenculhane Colleen the pods are actually pre-packaged Communion sets. The top layer contains the wafer then you peel off the next piece which opens the cup containing the wine. Yes I agree it is a bit in the dark side we are hoping to do some renovations on it in the near future
Fabulous shot for Q! Thank you for teaching me a new word. So glad to hear that your Chapel remains open. Looks like visiting would provide a lovely break in the middle of a marketplace. Beautiful table and altar. We will begin Lent with Ash Wednesday tomorrow.
I'm so happy to hear that your church will continue to meet in the mall. Answered prayer! The Chapel looks like it's ready for the season in fine fashion. Nice shot.
