Strawberry Hill gothic

A visit to Strawberry Hill House today after breakfast at Lara's - created by Horace Walpole in the mid-18th century in a fine example from the Gothic revival - now specifically known as Strawberry Hill gothic. Lots of marvellous Renaissance stained glass, over-the-top gothic fireplaces and a first floor gallery with gilded fan vaulting (pictured).

@judithg - yes I don't think they were really trying were they? Actually the steward described it as gothic bling.

Fantastic shot - gothic bling indeed ! My late father did his teacher training at Strawberry Hill before WWII .... he used to talk about the ceilings and polished floors - I'd forgotten about this until I saw your pic !!!

Delightfully OTT - I have never been there, but it has now gone onto my list of must-see!
