Crumbs.wondered what an oud looked like! Is that on the right or left.......doesn't a hurdy gurdy have a handle?

@fannyb - the oud is on the right. The hurdy gurdy's handle is lost against the black of the instrument stand.

@fannyb - I very much suspect a lute evolved from an oud ... Lentil soup sounds yummy - I have a recipe for an onion and puy lentil soup that I might try tomorrow ... will have to let you know how it goes ...

@boxplayer give Alison the lentil one you did in the autumn, red onion, tin tomatoes stock and lentils.....it had chick peas but I left them out....i put in carrot too! and most important 2 tsp cumin and chilli flakes......so delicious and simple
