The procession to celebrate the Prophet Mohammed's birthday. This has happened annually for several years now and it's a happy affair with people holding posters and banners affirming Islam as a religion of peace and emphasising the similarities with Judaism and Christianity.
I usually pop out to watch and it crossed my mind that this was the first time since Brexit. And lo and behold, having never seen any negative feelings expressed in previous years, I heard an older woman sayng to her younger companion as she passed by me something along the lines of 'This is supposed to be England not Pakistan' in a nasty venomous voice. I really find it difficult not to give in to feelings of hatred in these situations. I have to though in order not to be brought down to their level and to remember that something is lacking in that person's life for her to be so bitter.
