What I like about this shot Brigette is the focus on the tablecloth, it is so subtle. I find the fan harsh though but that could be just the colour of it. You asked for suggestions, I am not sure what I would do most likely use a brightly coloured fan, I may even have a go at sometime:0)
Fully closing the fan could work, or having it fully open and standing in the background of the shot? What about adding another item, a perfume bottle maybe or a flower? Goodness I am struggling for inspiration these day's (Christmas does that too me) :0)
