Sticky buds

I was taken by the sticky buds at Anglesey Abbey.

Well. when I was a child we used to call the buds of the horse chestnut tree 'sticky buds', so I'm presuming that's what it is. I'm not good at identifying trees especially without the leaves. I liked the lichen on this branch too.
