On the way back from our weekend in Kent we visited Red House at Bexleyheath which was co-designed and lived in by William Morris. The co-designer/architect was Philip Webb and the house was completed in 1860. Built as a family home where his two daughters were born, Morris only lived there for 5 years as he found it expensive to run. The National Trust bought the property in 2003 and their programme of restoration is still ongoing. There's lots to see however and many wall paintings have been uncovered showing the familiar repeating patterns of flowers and plants familiar to us today on wallpaper and china.
I have seen the inside of this house before on 365 but not sure whether I ever saw the outside. A very stylish house indeed......interesting roof line ...I expect it has very beUtiful rooms.
