We visited the Benington Lordship gardens inHertfordshire today to see the snowdrops. Stopping for a cream tea at their tea-room provided me with some inspiratiion for the FOR2023 circles theme.
Good shot- sometimes the trick is to not just see the color but see how black and white teases the eyes of the viewer. When it's in color all you see is the color- but in black and white you see the texture of the cream, the contrast of the porcelain dish and the table cloth and so on. I have always felt that black and white helps me to see in color better, and color helps me to see better in black and white. It's a challenge but in the long run it improves your artistic eye.
@olivetreeann Thank you for your comments, it's an interesting thought, and I do agree that some shots are better in b&w and show off the detail better
@busylady A picture like this can work both ways. In color it's enticing and makes our mouths water for a taste. But in black and white it gets our imaginations going as to what it might have looked liked and tasted like because we see it in a different way. Each has it's own place and when the photographer takes the picture, they determine what they most want to represent. Sometimes it's even fun to place the two side by side and see the contrast in how each genre makes you feel. Keep up the good work Judith!
