I don't know which saint this is - possibly St Francis of Assisi - but I found him in the little prayer corner where candles were lit in a church I wandered into today. Amazing how many times you can walk past a familiar building and never go in and yet find surprises when you do venture inside and wish you had looked sooner!
I loved the tenderness of the little statue and the quiet beauty of it. Clearly the birds were happy to be around him.
...I always enjoyed taking photographs looking up, or at least from an unusual angle, and I am always surprised at what I don't see. If you see what I mean.
I would guess St Francis, too. We once visited a Monastery in Northern Spain where an Abbot was said to have been sent into ecstasy for 300 years after hearing a bird sing nearby. There is some similar statuary there, from memory, but I doubt that legend will have travelled north past the Pyrenees!
Yes definitely St. Francis. He’s lovely isn’t he, one of the more simple everyday saints. I love going into churches especially when I’m in a new place i
On holiday. We went in one while in Cork & stayed for Mass. it’s lovely to talk to the local people.
This is a nice shot, well taken.
