River Scout by cdcook48

River Scout

For NF-SOOC. I spotted this water taxi in Steveston Harbour and shot it on Fujifilm Superia 400 using a Minolta XT with a 28-200 zoom lens set to 50mm. The negative was digitized and converted to positive in Lightroom but no other editing was done. The boat was up for sale, there is no water taxi service in Steveston.
Such an interesting capture and narrative.

She looks she needs a wee bit of TLC. I wonder if she will be a taxi again?

Excellent result after the hard work. I have never been very successful with digitising negatives!

What a process. Must be pretty time consuming. Looks like you picked up those nice Fuji greens and nice work with holding the details.

@kvphoto A little fiddly but not nearly as time consuming as working in a darkroom. Not sure if its Fuji greens, more like the colour balance is a little off. The whole image has a bit of a green tinge to it, possibly something to do with the conversion process. Easily enough corrected in Lightroom but since this is September sooc I had to let it go.

@cdcook48 I see a slight warmth in the highlights (magenta maybe) but not really a green tinge overall… but it could be the colors on my screen.

Nice look at the taxi and the gangplank.

A lovely muted palette, regardless of the source!
