These guys are famous in Brevard, NC. They have a festival for them and a guy at the university that studies them. The thinking now, as their squirrel population is about 50/50, is that it is not a recessive gene. We searched and searched for one and gave up and were heading back to the expressway when we found this guy in somebody's front yard.

Cool! I've never seen a white squirrel, but we have black, gray and red squirrels. The black and gray ones are actually the same species, only different colours. The red ones are much smaller, faster and feistier!
