First I hope not to offend anyone with the story of my day today. I love Lilies of all kinds, but this deep maroon is one of my favorites. I was out taking shots of it today when four Jehovah's Witnesses came up my drive. I was polite and told them no thanks but I was a lifelong Presbyterian. Now that excited them as they all agreed I was the first believer they had found all day - my guess is the first one out in the front yard on a day approaching 90. Finally one of them drew breath long enough to ask about my camera. That was all I needed. I told them what I was doing and asked them if they didn't want to buy a copy for a bulletin cover for church........then they left.
They always try to convert me when they stop by my house. I just tell them that I like to celebrate my birthday and I am not giving up Christ-mas! lol. Beautiful lily, Cathy! I love the deep rich color! Excellent shot:)
ROFLOL! I love your story, Cathy! Too funny!!! I won't invite the JW's in for a cold drink but, I will invite in the young Mormon missionaries. They're just sweet young fellas - always so polite and well mannered, and I enjoy chatting with them about their families and where they're from. They're usually so far away from home, too.
Stunning shot, love the composition and colors. I had the same thing happen to me! I was shooting flowers with the Nikon when they arrived - we ended up talking cameras and I gave one of them some pointers on what to buy!!
Some of these continue pestering people even when you tell them that you're not interested. This is a beautiful shot. I love the composition immensely.
@girlie You do that Robin. It did wrap up the conversation. @snipsnap Thanks Ramona. @janets Thank you Janet. They didn't come back today. @granny7 Thanks Linda. I worked to get the bud and the amount of lily I wanted in this one. @sangwann Thanks Dione. I just couldn't get a word in. @carolmw Thanks Carol. @filsie65 Thanks Phil. But I don't think I can take pictures in the front yard in my robe. They would come and take me away,.
@cdonohoue Now you know why my neighbours think I'm loopy!! I took photos in the garden in my 'housecoat' (?) in sub-zero temperatures on a couple of winter mornings to get the frost. (The door was shut on the day when the JW called, I thought they were the postman or I wouldn't have gone... I was quite decent!)
@filsie65 I thought about going out the other morning for the light but my neighbor babysits for a few of our local police officers. All very nice folks but I don't want to push the envelope.....

Thanks to all for the words and laughter. I love that about this group - we can laugh together. Next time they really should buy something from me. I think I will rename this "The Witness" It will be our little joke.
I was in my dressing gown when they last called - never seen them run away so fast!!
